Gardens by Le Nôtre in Île-de-France

The most beautiful gardens created by Le Nôtre in the Île-de-France region have fortunately escaped destruction. Despite the transformations they have undergone, they allow us to grasp the art of garden design on the very sites where he worked. Le Nôtre's contemporaries saw him as the inventor of an art to which he gave nobility and provided models through his work. Even though these living symbols of the Grand Siècle have lost much of their baroque exuberance, they still offer today, within an hour of Paris, the pleasure of strolling, which is their primary vocation.
