George Sand Bust

101474

This bust of George Sand was sculpted from a photo taken in 1864 by the famous portraitist Félix Tournachon, known as Nadar (1820-1910). Furthermore, Nadar was an excellent photo retoucher, and he modified the glass-plate negatives of his subject by scratching them in some places with a stylus and then enhancing them with a brush to reduce wrinkles and circles under the eyes and to emphasize the eyebrow line. It's this softened model that our partner "Histoire à la carte" 3D modeled, then realized it by milling in polyurethane, and then molded the resulting prototype head to create resin statuettes loaded with marble powder, each hand-patinated.
