A castle rooted in its region. Fougères differs from the châteaux of the Loire region by its plain and mighty architecture. The walls are made of hard calcareous Beauce ragstone, while a softer white stone, tuffeau, taken from the banks of the Cher River, has been used for the moulded and sculpted parts.
