About the monument

Site des mégalithes de Locmariaquer

A huge Neolithic site. It was built during the Neolithic period (circa 4500 to 3500 BC) when sedentary farming communities first emerged. The scale of the site reveals high population density and a hierarchical social structure.

A landscape changed by time. In Neolithic times, vast plains stretched out all around, since covered by the sea.
