Description

Completed in June 1932, the Villa Cavrois was a real aesthetic shock, the effects of which are still perceptible today. Architect Robert Mallet-Stevens achieved his most accomplished creation, thanks to the great freedom he was given by his client, Paul Cavrois. While the concept of the villa remains traditional, everything is designed to offer the utmost in modern comfort. After a long period of abandonment and vandalism (1988-2001), the Villa Cavrois was acquired by the French State in 2001. Restored to its original layout and interior volumes, the villa's materials, appearance, interior comfort and decorative vocabulary are resolutely modern. This guide is divided into two parts: the history of the monument, its construction, its life and its resurrection, followed by a visit to each of the rooms in the layout designed by Paul Cavrois and his wife: reception rooms, parents' wing, children's wing, cellars, park and janitor's cottage.
